An ultra rare 1970s hand painted caftan by Halston in a delicate sheer dyed silk chiffon. The caftan is rectangular cut and has a high neck and full length sleeves. An opening with a button closure at the neck can be worn to the front or the back. The caftan has a cloud-like abstract tie dye motif in tones of pale blue, peach, magenta, and yellow. It's like wearing a fabulous painting!
The caftan is one of the designs Halston is most famous for, with institutions such as the The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art holding similar pieces in their permanent collection. This a rare opportunity to own a piece of American fashion history!
