A sensational hand painted caftan by Halston in a delicate sheer dyed silk chiffon. It has an accompanying long fitted black slip dress that is lovely on its own. The caftan is square cut and has a high neck and full length sleeves. It has an opening with a button closure that can be worn to the front or the back. It features a geometric rhombus web pattern in dark grey layered atop painterly stripes in light grey and burnt orange. This caftan has a perfect sheer and airy movement that is instantly flattering to all body types! Label reads Halston with a second label from Bergdorf Goodman On the Plaza New York & dated 10/05/72. This is a rare find & a piece of fashion history. The Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum has several Halston caftans in their permanent collection.

Condition: The kaftan has some discoloration and marks from age. There is a light brown stain at the top on the back. We have not attempted to remove it because of the fragility of the fabric. It is absolutely wearable the way it is. Any imperfections are lost in the draping of the fabric. Its an amazing piece. The price reflects the condition, it is not pristine but still exceptional.
